MUSC 4083 - The Solo Recital

Examines the concept of public recital preparation and performance, its history, evolution and arrival at the millennium. Reaching out beyond the field of music, recitalists investigate the role of the arts within society-at-large, including an examination of the place of the solo recital in today’s global culture. Interviewing a living composer, and performing a work of the composer as part of a culminating recital, as a means of more fully recognizing the arts as a dynamic and everchanging force.
Prerequisites: Open to Music Performance majors only, or permission of the department chair.
Notes: Repeatable to a maximum of 3 hours.
