MATH 6240 - Dynamical Systems for Mathematics Teachers

Hours: 3
Dynamical systems are generated by iterated mathematical processes. As a result,these repetitive operations have many applications in the physical sciences (forexample, meteorology) and in finance. In some instances, researchers can predict with precision how a dynamical system will behave. However, chaotic systems aresurprisingly unpredictable. In addition, through the study of dynamical systems, artists and mathematicians can create complex, organic (and beautiful) graphic objects known as fractals.
