MUSC 3046 - American Popular Music

Hours: 4
A music literature course for music majors and non-majors beginning with music in the post-Civil War era and including ragtime, jazz, blues and rhythm and blues, as well as country and folk music styles. The course will follow post World War II popular genres with the development of rock and roll and its later styles including rap and hip hop.
Notes: This course may be used as a substitute for the INST Creativity and Culture requirement.
