Public Accounting Major Requirements (93 hrs)


Application for Degree


Prospective graduates must submit a Graduation Application to the Office of the Registrar during the term prior to the intended final semester.

CPA Education Requirements


150 semester credit hours are required to sit for the Ohio CPA exam.

  • Of the 150 semester credit hours:
    • 30 must be accounting courses with coverage in:
      • Financial Accounting
      • Management Accounting
      • CPA Auditing
      • Professional Ethics
      • Taxation
      • Accounting Information Systems
    • 24 must be in business courses other than accounting. Business courses acceptable include:
      • Finance
      • Management
      • Economics
      • Marketing
      • Business Law
      • Business Communications
      • Business Statistics
      • Note: non-business communications (taken in the English department); Statistics (taken in the Math department); or Ethics (taken in the Philosophy department) are not counted as business courses by the Accountancy Board of Ohio.
    • The remaining 96 credit hours can be from any undergraduate or graduate level courses such as:
      • Art
      • Business (courses other than accounting: finance, management, economics, marketing, business law, business communications, business statistics, etc.)
