Requirements in the Core Curriculum for the Mathematical Sciences Department:

Integrative Studies - 50 hrs
Foreign Language - 10 hrs
Mathematics - fulfilled by completing the math required in the major
Health and Physical Education Lifestyle Series - 3 hrs
Senior Year Experience - hrs depend upon course selected

Requirements in the major (at least 50 total hrs):

Foundation courses (35 hours):

Classical mathematics component (3 or 5 hours):

Additional Requirements:

Remaining hours to reach 50 total hours from among MATH 231 and any other MATH courses numbered above 300 except MATH 390, 420, and 490 (unless permission is granted by the department). Included in the 50 hours must be at least 15 at the 300/400 level taken in an Otterbein classroom. Courses should be selected in consultation with a mathematics advisor.
Suggested electives include computer science courses, ENGL 335 and COMM 280.

Residence Requirement:

Must be fulfilled by all transfer students (see The Academic Program .)

Application for Degree:

A prospective graduate must request an Application for Degree at the Registrar’s Office two terms prior to the term in which the degree is to be completed.
