BADM 691 - Qualitative Research I and II

Hours: 2 each quarter (2 quarter class)
This course is designed to give students experience in developing and completing an original research project. We will meet 5 times per quarter. The course is completed over two quarters (2 quarter hours per quarter) to allow students the time necessary to plan and complete their projects. For students contemplating entering a Ph.D. program, this course will introduce them to the basics of research methodology. The course will cover mixed methods, but will emphasize qualitative research. The study of quantitative methods will include developing the research question, conducting a literature review, and data analysis. Concurrently, training in qualitative fieldwork methods will be given including observation, interviewing, collecting written documents, designing grounded surveys, and data reduction and analysis. The goal of the course is for students to complete a project that will help either their company or an organization they belong to at the conclusion of the course. This course is a substitute for BADM 699.
