CHEM 3600 - Advanced Environmental Chemistry

Hours: 3
Examines the role of chemistry in environmental systems and employs basic principles of thermodynamics, kinetics, chemical bonding, and mass transfer in solving chemical problems related to our environment. Combination of theory and hands-on skills in environmental chemistry. Topics may include: sample collection and preparation; study of sources, reactions, transport, effects, and fates of chemical species found in air, soil and water. The course will use problem-based or service-learning to address a current environmental problem.
Prerequisites: CHEM 2500 and 3100 with a C- or better, or permission of the instructor.
