EDUC 3420 - Middle Childhood Methods II

Hours: 3
Implementation of long and short-term planning, the use of expository, inquiry, and small group instructional strategies, the use of technology as an instructional resource, and elements of effective classroom management and discipline as they contribute to a sense of positive classroom climate. Students learn to develop assessment techniques that are developmentally appropriate formative and summative; formal and informal. This process provides timely feedback that enables learners to recognize strengths OR areas for improvement and uses data-informed decisions to design instruction and assessment. Requires 60 off-campus field hours in a high needs middle childhood setting in one of the teaching areas for which licensure is sought.
Prerequisites: EDUC 3410 with a minimum grade of C, EDUC 3850, Jr standing, permission of the department, and teacher education admission. Corequisites: Two of: EDUC 3430, 3440, 3450, 3460. Current BCI/FBI background check must be on file in the Education Department.
