Compositional techniques and analysis of music from the romantic period through the present: character pieces, Lieder, post-romantic harmony, impressionism, primitivism, neoclassicism, pandiatonicism, set theory, serialism, indeterminacy, electronic and computer music, and minimalism. Composition projects are included.
Prerequisites: MUSC 2000 with a grade of C or better.
