HIST 4460 - History of Poverty in the U.S.

Hours: 4
This class will investigate poverty in the United States since the Second Industrial Revolution with the goal of understanding why so many Americans have lived in poverty. In doing so, the class will examine the intersection of poverty with issues of race, class, gender, ethnicity, and immigration; analyze the societal structures that help produce poverty; and study the various state-sponsored and privately-initiated programs that have tried to reduce poverty.
