EQSC 4000 - Equine Nutrition

Hours: 4
An in-depth study of equine nutrition, including absorption, metabolism and feed sources of nutrients. Included are ration balancing, determining nutritive needs, the use of supplements, problems associated with feeds and feeding, toxic plants, pasture management and soil analysis. An introduction to exercise metabolism and feeding the equine athlete is also included.
Prerequisites: EQSC 3100 with a minimum grade of C, or permission.
