CHEM 2400 - Organic Chemistry I

Hours: 3
Structure, reactivity, and synthesis of carbon-containing compounds.  The problem-solving approach emphasizes the correlation of reaction mechanism with modern structural theory.  Introductory topics include the nature of bonding, stereochemistry, spectroscopic identification of compounds, alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, conjugated sstems, and aromaticity.

 



Prerequisites: CHEM 1500 or 1910 with a grade of C- or better.
